[August 07, 2010]  The city of Lincoln and Main Street Lincoln invite you to an open house to provide input for a downtown streetscape and facade improvement plan. This summer the city will be applying for two grants that would be used in the downtown area for streetscape improvements, possible facade improvements and the development of an overall plan for scenic improvements and unification of the downtown area.

The purpose of this meeting is primarily to gather opinions from downtown business owners, patrons and the public regarding what is needed to improve the downtown area. Information on grant funding sources and amounts and how to review the applications once they are prepared will also be shared at this meeting. Letters of support for funding of this project are being requested for inclusion in the grant applications.

The open house will be in the council chambers at Lincoln City Hall, 700 Broadway, from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The open house will be followed by a public hearing at 6 p.m. The hearing will be held to receive comments on an Illinois Community Development Assistance Program grant application requesting funding for downtown planning, rehabilitation and demolition for blighted properties, and facade improvements and enhancements. Also to be considered at the hearing will be an assessment of Lincoln's overall community development needs.

The meeting location is handicapped-accessible.

Information regarding the open house and public hearing can be obtained by calling Lisa Kramer at 217-341-9275.
