Grains jump on the CBOT; beef falls, pork higher

[August 13, 2010]  CHICAGO (AP) -- Grains futures advanced Thursday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Wheat for December delivery surged 18.75 cents to $7.4375 a bushel, while December corn jumped 10.75 cents to $4.2175 a bushel and oats for December delivery rose 3 cents to $2.85 a bushel. November soybeans climbed 13 cents to $10.285 a bushel.

Meanwhile, beef futures fell and pork futures traded higher on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

October live cattle slipped 0.05 cent to 95.3 cents a pound, October feeder cattle lost 0.95 cent to $1.1227 a pound, October lean hogs gained 0.97 cent to 74.62 cents a pound, and August pork bellies added 4 cents to $1.405 a pound.
