Presidential library and museum volunteer training starts Sept. 1

[August 18, 2010]  SPRINGFIELD -- People who would like to help bring Abraham Lincoln's life and times to the world are invited to be volunteers at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.

The next series of volunteer training programs at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum will start Sept. 1 at 5:30 p.m. in the Multi Purpose Room at the presidential library. The two-hour session will acquaint people with the volunteer opportunities available and begin teaching attendees what they need to know about the library and museum. Volunteers will be asked to attend three additional training sessions on Wednesdays: Sept. 15, 22 and 29. Each session will start at 5:30 p.m. and last approximately three hours.

Volunteers contribute an average of 38,000 hours of service each year to the presidential library and museum, making the experience better for those who visit the nation's most popular presidential library complex.
