Paramedics train with new lifesaving equipment

Logan County Paramedics trained Tuesday evening to learn the use of their new C-Mac machines. The C-Mac is a video laryngoscope. It gives a much larger view of the tracheal opening for increasing chances for successful intubation. In respiratory arrest patients, it is vital to obtain and maintain a patent airway so emergency responders can breathe for the unconscious patient manually. The devices are beginning to be used in hospitals in Illinois. However, few if any, are being used in the field. The Logan County Paramedic Association has purchased three of these units.
