City to begin seal coat operations Monday

[August 20, 2010]  The city of Lincoln Street and Alley Department will begin the second phase of its seal coat program on Monday.

The workers will start in the Starkey Acres subdivision and work their way south and west, doing the seal coating on selected streets.

The list can be seen on the city's website, www.cityoflincoln-il.gov. Click on "News" for a link to the complete list.

The street department asks that all vehicles be off the street by 7:30 a.m. and that residents do not throw grass into the street when mowing. This is so that workers can do patching prior to applying the seal coat.

"We also ask that when you see us, please stay clear from that area until we are done," said Tracy Jackson, street superintendent. "This is for your safety and ours."

The program is scheduled to be completed by Sept. 3, weather permitting. The department will then go back and street sweep any excess rock.

If you have any questions, please call 732-4655 between 7:30 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. or e-mail tjackson@cityoflincoln-il.gov.
