 Mike Starasta, director of the McKinstry Library at Lincoln College,
will be the featured speaker. He is an experienced genealogist, with
expertise in researching archives and using libraries, genealogical
websites, genealogical databases and local organizations to develop
family trees.The program will introduce beginning and
intermediate genealogists to available resources for tracing your
family tree. Topics include how to get started, researching
archives, using libraries, genealogical websites, genealogical
databases and local organizations to find your family history.
In addition, Starasta will discuss the genealogy of some of the
founding families of Elkhart -- Gillett, Shockey, Latham and
Oglesby.
Starasta has served as an archivist at the Lincoln Home National
Historic Site, where he researched documents and artifacts, and also
with the Illinois Regional Archives Depository, where he researched
genealogical information for patrons. Starasta has a master's degree
in history from Illinois State University and a master's degree in
library science from Dominican University.

The dinner lecture series is held at The Wild Hare Café, 104 Gov.
Oglesby St. in historic downtown Elkhart. Dinner begins at 5:30
p.m., with the talks from 7 to 8 p.m. Reservations and prepayment
are required, and space is limited. Cost is $17.99. The dinner
package price includes the meal, dessert, drink, tax and gratuity.
The reservation deadline is Sept. 20.
