Thursday evening Lincoln's 22nd annual art and balloon fest officially got under way with a huge party at Maple Ridge Care Centre.
With abundant supplies of pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, pasta salad, chips, drinks, cookies, snow cones and cotton candy, coupled with some really good music, the evening couldn't help but be a delightful one.

As guests stood in line for their meal, they got a surprise.

Wally, the balloon sponsored by the city of Lincoln, peeked over the treetops. Maybe he was hoping for a sandwich.

One of the most popular places in the Maple Ridge parking lot, even before dinner, was the do-it-yourself snow cone table.

While the line moves into the Maple Ridge dining hall, many guests have already been served.

Maple Ridge staff members serve up generous portions of food to the dinner guests.

Plates are passed from hand to hand, heaped full of delicious food and given to the guests.

Outside under the big tent, the band Traces in Time entertained diners.
