[August 30, 2010]  Lincoln College men's soccer team broke the school record for number of goals in a game by defeating Richard Daley College 15-0 in the season opener.

Stiven Salinas, last year's region forward of the year, scored four goals to lead the Lynx. Coach Ben Massena's squad had six more players score goals, with three players scoring multiple times.

The team will travel to Centralia to play Kaskaskia Community College on Tuesday for their Region 24 opener.

LC goals scored:

  • Stiven Salinas (Miami, Fla.), 4

  • Anthony Lopez (Miami, Fla.), 2

  • Carl Lamur (Miami, Fla.), 3

  • Jose Barralaga (Miami, Fla.), 1

  • Rene Williams (England), 1

  • Edwin Moalosi (Botswana), 3

  • Rodrigo Koernig (Miami, Fla.), 1

Assists:

  • Stiven Salinas (Miami, Fla.), 2

  • Tom Spalding (England), 1

  • Anthony Lopez (Miami, Fla.), 1

  • Carlos Laguanos (Stockton), 2

  • Jose Barralaga (Miami, Fla.), 3

  • Diego Figueroa (Miami, Fla.), 3

Coach Massena commented: "Overall, a good showing by the team and a great way to start the year. Standout performances for Stiven Salinas, Carl Lamur and Edwin Moalosi, each scoring at least three goals. And goalies Jarod Thomas and Brian Krones both combined for the shutout."
