[November 30, 2010]  Frosty's Festival, a winter carnival that will benefit Christian Child Care, will be taking place on Friday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Park District Rec Center. The event is being carried out by Lincoln Christian University students and is intended to not only help Christian Child Care, a well-deserving organization, but also to be an event that all the families of Logan County can enjoy and benefit from.

InsuranceOne of the LCU organizers, Jenyelyne Smith, said the group feels extremely fortunate to have the support of a great community, and they will be heading into this event with many of the games and supplies paid for. One of the big favorites for this event are the two inflatables that they have coming in from Peoria. Smith said they were fortunate to find a company that gave them a great discount on both a bounce house and a slide.

They will also have numerous carnival-type games where the kids will win tickets toward items on a prize table set up for the kids.

Right now the group is in discussion with local businesses to help sponsor the dinner they will be having at the carnival as well. The students decided to set up a dinner like they did during their own carnival games by using tickets to pay for food and events. That way all money-handling is in one general area and not spread across the event.

A balloon artist is also coming in to make different creations for the kids for free as they enjoy the day and make their way around the carnival. There will also be a face painter to paint different creations on youngsters' faces.

Another fun twist planned is that two of the games are set up so that children can win either a liter of soda, at Ring Toss, or an actual goldfish, at Bowl-A-Fish. Of course, if the parents do not want their kids to have the soda or a live goldfish, they can choose to have their kids win tickets toward the prize table, just like with all the other games of the evening.

The group does have some volunteers to help with the event, but they are always looking for more to help during the actual carnival or to set up and tear down.
