Principia vs. Lincoln Christian

[December 09, 2010]  The Panthers of Principia College handed the Red Lions men's basketball team of Lincoln Christian University a heartbreaking 72-73 loss Wednesday evening.

After a quick start with LCU leading 23-13 with 10 minutes to play in the first half, the Panthers closed to within five points at the half, 38-33. Kevin Watson kept LCU in the lead by scoring 13 of the final 17 points for the Red Lions before the break.

In the second half, Principia closed the gap and tied the score at 42 with 16:10 to play. From that point the lead changed hands six times before the Panthers scored their final three points to take a 73-70 lead. LCU then got within one on a basket by Kyle Rust. The Red Lions forced a turnover with 11 seconds but were unable to get off a shot and suffered the 73-72 defeat.

The Red Lions were led by Chris Lawson with 19 points and Rust with 15 points and seven rebounds. Watson finished with 15 points and six rebounds.
