[December 11, 2010]  "I care for the residents like they are my family," said Karen Myers, who was awarded the title of Christian Village Employee of the Year.

InsuranceMyers has been with The Christian Village for almost 34 years. The last 20 years she has been a CNA restorative aide, helping patients return to regular, daily functioning after an illness or injury.

"The work isn't always easy, but it's very rewarding. A lesson learned as a child still sticks with me today: to treat others the way I would want to be treated," she said.

Misty Zimmerman, director of nursing, is proud of Myers and said: "She exemplifies our mission of honoring God by providing excellent care to our residents. She is always willing to help other staff and is such a asset to our team. It's because of people like Karen, who make us a community of compassion."

Karen lives in Middletown with her husband of 43 years, Fred Myers. She has raised two children, Jeff and Amy.

2010 Employees of the Month for The Christian Village were Candace Bennis, Rose Kennedy, Elizabeth Fagan, Heather Colclasure, Brenda Sullivan, Chuck Steffens, Donna Givens, Leslie Whiteman, Somer Schulte, Heather Alley and Sarah Dinger.
