[December 16, 2010]  TOKYO (AP) -- Honda Motor Co. says it is recalling 1.35 million Fit subcompact cars globally to fix defective wiring in the headlights.

Of the affected vehicles, Honda said Thursday it would recall 143,000 cars in the United States. The company will also recall 734,000 cars in Japan.

Honda said the Fit recall in Japan would cost the company around 3.6 billion yen ($42.8 million).

Honda will also recall Fit cars in Europe and Asia, but declined to give further details.
