Suspicious package closes Newark airport terminal

[December 20, 2010]  NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- Terminal A at New Jersey's Newark Liberty International Airport is closed while police investigate a suspicious package.

American Airlines spokesman Tim Smith tells The Associated Press he's been told the package was found at a security checkpoint.

The terminal is where American Airlines' flights are based at Newark.

TV footage shows a large number of emergency vehicles outside the terminal.
