Elkhart Historical Society announces 2011 dinner-lecture dates

[December 31, 2010]  ELKHART -- The Elkhart Historical Society is preparing an outstanding lineup of speakers for their 2011 dinner-lecture series. Last year was the society's first year for these events. The response to the 2010 series was so positive that additional presentations are being planned for 2011.

HardwareThe dinner-lecture series is presented at The Wild Hare Cafe in historic downtown Elkhart, at 104 Gov. Oglesby St. Dinner begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the lecture from 7 to 8 p.m.

The following dates and topics have been selected for the first half of 2011:

  • Jan. 28 -- "Logan County During the Civil War"

  • Feb. 25 -- "What's a National Scenic Byway and Why Should Elkhart Care?" and "Elkhart's Place in Route 66 History"

  • March 25 -- "Gov. Oglesby and Lincoln"

  • April 15 -- "The Spring Wildflowers of Elkhart Hill"

The dinner cost is $24 per person and includes tax, tip, gratuity and a complimentary glass of wine.
