Stock futures point to higher opening

[February 01, 2010]  SHANGHAI (AP) -- Stock futures are rising, pointing to a higher opening after gains in markets overseas and ahead of the White House's release of its new budget proposal.

HardwareA handful of economic reports, including personal income data, are also expected to be released later Monday to provide more clues on a recovering economy.

Meanwhile, Toyota is revealing its plans to fix gas pedals in more than 2 million vehicles being recalled in the U.S. The pedals can get stuck or are slow to return when released, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dow Jones industrial average futures are up 52, or 0.5 percent, at 10,069. Standard & Poor's 500 index futures are up 5.60, or 0.5 percent, at 1,076.00, while Nasdaq 100 index futures are up 8.00, or 0.5 percent, at 1,747.25.
