Red Lions men win, women lose

[February 01, 2010]  The men's basketball Red Lions of Lincoln Christian University topped off a full Hall of Fame day at the Laughlin Center on Saturday by posting an 89-67 victory over the Soldiers of St. Louis Christian College.

After honoring former coaches Jeff Mayfield and Randy Kirk with their induction into the Hall of Fame, and honoring Jon Wallace as the male athlete and Adriane Tschantz as the female athlete of the year 2008-2009, the Red Lions were led by Wallace as he scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

Wallace received a lot of help from Kevin Watson with 16 points and nine rebounds; Mac Ingmire, 13 points and five rebounds; and Landan Callahan with 12 points on 4 of 6 from 3-point range.

The 12-6 Red Lions shot 50.7 percent from the field, 53.8 percent from the free-throw line and outrebounded the Soldiers 50-32.

LCU will next host St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Thursday.

The Red Lions women lost to Mount Mary College 89-35 on Saturday.

The 0-9 Red Lions got 11 points from Kim Hardin and 10 points from Jonnie McCaslin.

The LCU women's team will play at Watertown, Wis., on Monday, when they take on Maranatha Bible College.
