Appeal for Haiti

Send a link to a friend

[February 04, 2010]   --If you have been watching the news you know that a catastrophic earthquake struck the already impoverished island nation of Haiti this week. If you did not know about this disaster, you can read about it here. In lieu of a devotional today I am going to suggest that all of us spend time in prayer for the people of Haiti and for the millions of people who, on this day, are finding little joy or hope in the world.

While this catastrophe did not strike within the bounds of our nation, as Christians we should remember that we are not merely citizens of a country but also citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven, which knows no geographic boundaries. Our neighbors have experienced a level of destruction they likely found to be unimaginable just a few days ago. In addition to prayers, the denomination has sent out this link which will allow you to donate money to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance online. The PC(USA) has a presence in Haiti and will, no doubt, be active there in the months and years ahead. Again, please pray for the people of Haiti and all those, around the world, who are suffering this day.
