[February 08, 2010]  A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday

Timing: Snow began moving into areas west of Interstate 55 on Monday and is expected to spread east through the afternoon. Most of the accumulation should occur Monday night into early Tuesday. The blowing and drifting of the snow will begin Tuesday afternoon and continue through Tuesday night.

Accumulations: Totals of 5 to 7 inches are expected through the duration of the event, with the highest totals north of I-74.

Wind: Northwest winds will increase Tuesday afternoon and will gust to around 30 mph through Tuesday night.

Effects: Roads will become snow-packed and slippery, making travel hazardous through the period. The strong, gusty winds will also create blowing and drifting of the snow, adding to the hazardous driving conditions. Additionally, wind chills will fall to near zero Tuesday night.
