Lincoln Area YMCA will kick off its annual 'Miles of Smiles -- A Strong Kids Campaign' at the end of February

[February 23, 2010]  Lincoln Area YMCA will kick off its annual "Miles of Smiles -- A Strong Kids Campaign" at the end of February. Lincoln Area YMCA is proud to have the opportunity to provide financial assistance to local families through its YMCA Scholarship program. It is because of donors and friends of the YMCA who contribute financially to this fund that the organization is able to provide financial assistance to families who cannot afford to pay the entire YMCA program fee.

Donations to the scholarship fund allow every child the opportunity to:

• Participate in Y programs, no matter what their economic situation might be.

• Learn important skills and values that positively impact their life and the community.

• Come to the Y to share and laugh with friends.

• Smile, and put some play in their day!

Lincoln Area YMCA provided $22,000 in scholarships to local families during 2008 and 2009! The campaign goal for 2010 is set at $13,000. No one is turned away for the inability to pay.

Financial contributions are tax-deductible, and they help add so many more smiles to so many more little faces. Thank you on behalf of all the YMCA staff, board of directors, families and especially the children, for the continued support this community extends to Lincoln Area YMCA. Thank you for helping us build strong kids, strong families and a strong community.
