Area Boy Scout council names new communications director

[February 24, 2010]  PEORIA -- The W.D. Boyce Council, Boy Scouts of America, is pleased to introduce David Schwartz as its new communications director effective immediately. Schwartz brings more than five years of Scouting experience and a strong educational background in the field of communications to lead the council's enhanced communications efforts.

HardwareHis contributions will include the creation and distribution of the W.D. Boyce Council's digital newsletter, database management and media relations. In addition, he will lead brand communication and marketing coordination for the council.

Schwartz has been with the W.D. Boyce Council for 1 1/2 years as the district executive working with Scouts in Woodford, Tazewell, Mason and Logan counties. Prior to that, he was a district executive for more than four years in the St. Louis area.

He has a bachelor's degree in communication from Bradley University.

The main office of the W.D. Boyce Council, Boy Scouts of America, is at 614 NE Madison Ave., near downtown Peoria. The council currently serves more than 13,354 kids in 14 counties spread across central Illinois. The W.D. Boyce Council is divided into five districts -- Crossroads, Heartland, Lowenau, Wotamalo and Exploring/Learning For Life -- which all serve their own counties in central Illinois. ScoutREACH is the council's outreach effort dedicated to reaching youth of all circumstances from within the council.
