[February 25, 2010]  The Logan County sheriff's office is investigating a burglary that occurred in the early morning hours Tuesday at the Luda gas station and convenience store at 811 N. Vine in Mount Pulaski.

Logan County deputies responded to an alarm at the business and discovered that the front of the business had been heavily damaged and an ATM was missing from the store.

Video surveillance showed an older model light blue pickup truck backing up through the glass storefront. A single suspect dressed in dark clothing was observed exiting the pickup and loading the ATM into the back of the truck. Tire tracks at the scene indicated the suspect fled south on Route 121.

The light blue pickup used in the burglary was located abandoned in rural northwest Macon County. The vehicle had been stolen from Lincoln. The ATM was recovered by a Logan County sheriff's detective approximately two miles from the stolen truck.

A joint investigation is being conducted by the Logan County sheriff's office, Mount Pulaski police and Lincoln police.

Anyone with information regarding this crime or any other crime is urged to contact the sheriff's office at 217-732-4159. Callers may also contact the Logan/Logan Crime Stoppers tip line at 217-732-3000. Callers do not have to give their name and could receive a cash reward.
