[December 31, 2009]  Mildred Krause, 96, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be on Jan. 10 at 1 p.m. at the Beason Methodist Church. Light refreshments and fellowship will follow.

Arrangements are by Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln.

For all but a few of her 96 years, Mildred resided on the family farm south of Beason.

She was born in Beason on Oct. 6, 1913, a daughter of Thomas Andrew and Maude Woland Gardner. She married Harold "Pete" Krause in 1939, and he preceded her in death.

They had two sons, Roger (and Georgia) of Vandalia and Gene (and Pat) of Lincoln; three grandchildren; and numerous great- and step-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by four siblings: John and Harold, Josephine Richner, and Louise Begolka.

In addition to a busy farm life, she was active in the Beason Methodist Church, with the Beason Methodist Women, as a 4-H leader, a charter member of Logan County Homemakers Extension, taught music and in general gave unselfishly to the local community wherever and whenever asked.

Mildred loved the outdoors. She and Pete worked side by side on the farm. In later years she and two of her "buddies" became known throughout the county for their fishing adventures. Again, any excuse to be outside.

Mildred will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
