The Lynx went 12-18 from the 3-point line behind Louie Schanouer's
17 points on 5-6 from long range. "I thought we did a great job of
playing unselfish and finding the open man tonight," Whiteman said.
"We could not get anything going in the post due to foul trouble.
Ware, Turpin and McElroy all had two fouls in the first half and
ended the game with four each. Steve Hines stepped up in the post
and played some great minutes, going 4-8 (eight points) with four
rebounds."
Lincoln was able to take the lead at halftime 46-34 and push it
to 71-51 with 12 minutes to go.
"However, Parkland picked up the pressure, and our 12 turnovers
in the second half didn't help and allowed them to cut the lead to
71-61 with 10 to go. It was great to see us have the composure to
battle it out for the win," the coach said.
"I was impressed with our intensity on the defensive end to start
the game. Again it started with our guards, and I thought Marius
Sumrell (three steals) and Kenyon Smith set the tone defensively. We
had some great balance -- Schonauer, 17 points; Sumrell, nine
points, four rebounds, three steals; Ware, nine points (4-5), seven
boards, five assists; Smith, 10 points (4-7), six rebounds, five
assists; Turpin, 11 points, six rebounds, four blocks; McElroy,
eight points (4-5), four rebounds; Works, nine points, five assists;
and Woodson, six points (2-2 behind the arch)."
