[January 12, 2010]  Vonderlieth, Deron Powell to host nursing home ins. seminar

Is it time to think about nursing home insurance?
  • Nursing home care costs $50,000 per year at a minimum, and in many areas it is closer to $75,000.

  • By 2030, one in five Americans will be a senior citizen.

  • By 2030, those needing LTC will skyrocket to more than 23 million Americans, with projected long-term care costs reaching $300,000 annually per individual (according to the National Advisory Center for Long Term Care Insurance).

If you haven't considered long-term care insurance, it may be time to give it a look. Deron Powell will present information to area residents at a meeting on Monday, Jan. 18, at 6:30 p.m. in the activity room at Vonderlieth Living Center. Powell is a State Farm Insurance representative in Mount Pulaski and well-qualified to discuss insurance options.

The world of long-term care insurance is confusing. The policies vary widely with options such as a waiting period before insurance kicks in, inclusion of home health or assisted living costs, and amounts paid monthly.

We welcome you to join us for a lively discussion of what to look for and when to buy.

The Lincoln Farmer's Market has announced a change in their location for the 2010 market season. Lincoln Farmer's Market has relocated to Scully Park, just south of downtown Lincoln. The manager of the market, Susan Wachter, said: "The new location will make it much safer for our vendors and customers due to the flat terrain. We also believe the flat terrain and beautiful fountain will make a much better backdrop for entertainment at the market."

The Lincoln Farmer's Market is currently seeking local performers, of all ages and abilities, to showcase their talents for their peers and family in the park on Saturday mornings. The market is also seeking vendors and artists to vend in the park during the May 1-Oct. 30 season. Anyone who is interested in being a vendor, entertainer or sponsor at the market can contact Susan Wachter at 217-871-0666.
