[February 04, 2010]  The Logan County Soil & Water Conservation District has scheduled its annual dinner meeting for Feb. 4 at 6 p.m. The smorgasbord dinner will be at the American Legion Home, 1740 Fifth St. in Lincoln.

Speaker for the evening will be Mike McClellan, owner and president of Mobile Weather Team, a Washington, Ill.-based company specializing in on-site weather forecasting, advance storm warning, lightning prediction and detection, plus long-range agriculture weather forecasting. A meteorologist who left WMBD-TV in 1999, McClellan tracked weather at major PGA tournaments across the country before selling that portion of the business in 2008. While he still covers the European PGA scene, he wants to "integrate more ag things into the business."

There will be a short business meeting with election of directors. Terms of directors Dean Sasse of Atlanta and Cheryl Baker of Emden will be expiring. Recently completed conservation practices and district activities will be highlighted in a short PowerPoint presentation. Logan County FFA chapters will be recognized for their activities and achievements.

Cost of tickets for the evening is $10 per person.

Stop by the district office at 1650 Fifth St. Road to purchase tickets, or call 735-5508, ext. 3, for more information. District directors also have tickets. Reservations are needed by Jan. 28.
