[February 04, 2010]  A freezing rain advisory remains in effect until noon Wednesday.

InsuranceTiming: Freezing rain will continue this morning before the temperatures rise above freezing around midday.

Ice accumulations: One- to two-tenths of an inch of ice will accumulate this morning.

Effects: Untreated roads, bridges, sidewalks and parking lots will remain ice-coated and slippery this morning, creating hazardous travel conditions.

Precautionary, preparedness actions: A freezing rain advisory means that periods of freezing rain or freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving.

Road conditions: Due to the rain and near-freezing temperatures, road conditions continue to be hazardous. State police troopers responded to several crashes occurring in northern Sangamon County and southern Logan County, beginning at 6 a.m. Motorists are advised to slow down, wear a seat belt and scan the roadway ahead. Be aware of possible stalled vehicles and reduce speed when approaching stationary emergency vehicles.
