Agriculture futures rise, livestock prices mixed

[January 22, 2010]    CHICAGO (AP) -- Agriculture futures rose in early trading Thursday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Wheat for March delivery added 1.5 cents to $4.99 a bushel; March corn gained 1 cent to $3.69 a bushel; March oats rose 1.75 cents to $2.2175 a bushel; and March soybeans climbed 3.5 cents to $9.535 a bushel.

In other trading, beef futures dropped while pork futures crept higher on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

February live cattle slid 0.65 cent to 86.80 cents a pound; March feeder cattle dropped 0.47 cent to 99.40 cents a pound; February lean hogs added 0.05 cent to 70.50 cents a pound; and February pork bellies also edged up 0.05 cent to 89.10 cents a pound.
