Red Lions drop game to Crusaders

[January 27, 2010]  The Red Lions of Lincoln Christian University dug themselves too big a hole in the first half and did not have enough time in the second half to complete their rally. Trailing by 16 at the half and as much as 22 early in the second half, LCU rallied to within four points with one minute left, but was unable to overtake the Crusaders of Maranatha Baptist Bible College on Tuesday evening.

InsuranceMaranatha prevailed 79-74, handing the Red Lions their sixth loss to go with 10 victories for the season.

While shooting 42.2 percent from the field, LCU missed 11 of 23 free throws and was outrebounded 46-27.

The Red Lions placed four players in double figures, led by Jon Wallace with 24. The others were Chris Lawson 14, Landan Callahan 11 and Kevin Watson 11.

Maranatha also placed four in double figures: Joel Borchardt 18, Joshua Stein 17, Matthew McGivern 10 and Tim Solarek 10.

The Red Lions will be on the road against Principia on Thursday before returning home for the Hall of Fame game on Saturday against St. Louis Christian College.
