Red Lions men win, women lose

[January 29, 2010]  ELSAH -- Josiah Brock scored 20 points by making 10 of 13 field goal attempts to lead the Lincoln Christian University Red Lions men's basketball team to their 11th victory Thursday evening with a 78-57 triumph over Principia College.

LCU, ranked 10th in the latest National Christian College Athletic Association Division II poll, improved their record to 11-6. Brock received help from Landan Callahan with 17 points, Jon Wallace with 11 and Kevin Watson with 10.

The Red Lions shot 58.9 percent from the field, 33 percent from 3-point range and 50 percent from the free-throw stripe, while outrebounding the Panthers 43-21.

The LCU women's team also played at Principia on Thursday and dropped their eighth game of the season.

LCU's Sheena Cooper had 11 points to lead the Red Lions.

The women will play St. Mary College on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Laughlin Center as part of the LCU Hall of Fame activities. The men's team will host St. Louis Christian College at 3.
