[June 30, 2010]  The 4th of July Fireworks & Celebration Committee invites you to a three-piece fried chicken fundraiser dinner hosted at the American Legion, 1740 Fifth St., on Friday. The meals will be served from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The menu will include potato salad, baked beans, roll and beverage.

InsuranceCost is $7 per ticket and advance purchases may be made at Lincoln Park District headquarters. All proceeds from the dinner will be used to offset the costs of Lincoln's fireworks.

On Saturday, be a part of the Old-Fashioned Children's Walking Parade. Meet at Scully Park downtown. Registration begins at 9 a.m., judging at 9:30 and the parade will step off at 10 a.m. The route will go from Scully Park and end at the Lincoln Park District complex.

After the prizes are awarded, stay for a fun-filled water balloon fight against the firemen and their fire truck. Even the mayor will be on the other team. There will be almost 1,000 balloons, so you're guaranteed to get good and wet!

Sunday, July 4, kicks off with Splashapalooza -- games, prizes and lots of fun at the Lincoln Park District pool and on the deck from 1 to 5 p.m. There will be games for kids of all ages.

Beginning around 7:30 that evening you are invited out to the park district grounds for the annual fireworks event. DJ Devin Curry will play tunes, and you can enjoy a free slice of watermelon. The American Legion color guard will present the colors at dusk, just before the fireworks are set off.
