Carroll 'Hoppy' Hopwood

[July 14, 2010]  LINCOLN -- A memorial service for Carroll R. "Hoppy" Hopwood, 77, will be at noon Thursday at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery.

Mr. Hopwood, of Lawton, Okla., died July 5, 2010, in Norman, Okla.

He had worked as a general laborer at Logan SS.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was born Oct. 2, 1932, in Salisbury. His parents were Charles and Bernice Irwin Hopwood. The family moved to Springfield and later to Lincoln, where he attended school. He married Estella D. VanOver in Lincoln on Feb. 28, 1964.

He is survived by his wife, of Lawton; his son, Arthur Hopwood of Lincoln; his brother and sister-in-law, Virgil and Connie Hopwood of Kalamazoo, Mich.; his sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Donald Haines of McLean; one grandson, Arthur Hopwood II of Lincoln; his brother-in-law, John Marshall of San Jose; his former daughter-in-law, Kathy Hopwood of Lincoln; and his childhood friend Pat Langley of Robinson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Helen Marshal; and one grandson, Charles Hopwood.
