Carroll
Catholic/Zion/NH-M will be holding baseball tryouts and
practice from 4 to 6 p.m. throughout the first week of August at the
Lincoln Rec diamond. Boys from fifth through eighth grade are
welcome to try out. Participants must have an up-to-date physical
and must bring their hats and gloves. If you cannot make practice
due to vacations, etc., please call John Kocka at 735-3146.

senior citizen groups requesting funds for fiscal 2011 should
submit their written request by 4 p.m. on Aug. 20. Send to: Logan
County Board, Attn: Finance Committee, P.O. Box 39, Lincoln, IL
62656. Requests will be reviewed by the committee on Aug. 25 and 26
at 11 a.m.
A
"Filled Decorated Lunch Box" class at the Logan County Fair is being
sponsored again this year by the Logan County Farm Bureau Women's
Committee. Participants must be 5-8 years of age. Special prizes
will be presented to all participants. Stop in at the fair office,
located just south of the grandstand, to register. Entries close
July 23.
Also: Got a cookie recipe made with honey? Stop in at the Logan
County Fair secretary's office, south of the grandstand, and enter
the contest "What's the Buzz All About." Entries close July 23.
There
will be a Red Cross blood drive Wednesday, July 21, at the
Lincoln Sports Complex, 1400 Primm Road in Lincoln, from noon to 5

All presenting donors will be entered into a raffle to win a free
pair of tickets for the Cubs vs. Cardinals game on Sept. 25 at
Wrigley Field.
A
presentation of resources for seniors is Thursday, July 22,
at the Lincoln Park District, 1400 Primm Road, from 10 a.m.-noon.
The public is invited to this free event sponsored by the Senior
Issues Task Force. Learn about the resources available today for our
local seniors. Many agencies will be present and able to answer your
questions. Refreshments and door prizes provided. Free lunch
provided after the event.

On
Saturday, July 24, the Humane Society of Logan County will have a
dog wash at AutoZone, 1206 Woodlawn, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The
public and pooches are all invited. Dog wash by donation; nail trims
available for a fee.
