News & Information

Our goal is to provide as much information to our farmers, ranchers, landowners, agribusinesses, non-farm orientated citizens, students, and future email subscribers in the quickest, cheapest, and most efficient way.  Issuing press releases and regular newsletters fulfill our minimal requirements in publicizing information, but as we have learned over the years, it's not enough. The Logan County E-News will be published periodically and used solely to compliment the other avenues of our information dissemination needs.  Subscription is free and the advice is still cheap.  We do not discriminate.  If you know someone that wants to subscribe, share this E-News with them.  If you know someone is not getting their E-News, they should contact our office or check with their Internet Service Provider (ISP) or Email provider and flag the Logan County E-News as "non-spam" or "acceptable".  Every time we issue E-News publications, we receive several returned messages due to the security filters your ISP uses.

ACRE Production and Yield Certification has been Extended

*September 1, 2010*

The deadline to certify your ACRE Production and Yield has been extended to Wednesday, September 1, 2010.  The extension applies to your farms Benchmark Farm Yield and 2009 Actual Yield.  Please call the office for any questions you may have regarding filling out the certification form correctly.

Q: Will I receive plug yields for 2004 – 2008 if I don’t certify my farms benchmark yield on a FSA-658 Form by September 1st?

A:  No, every farm must have a signed certified FSA-658 on file by close of business on September 1, 2010.  Failure to do so will result in an invalid contract for 2009.  No DCP or ACRE payments will be issued and yes, the farm will still be enrolled in ACRE till 2012.

658 Production Form – Click on the link and type “658” into “Form Number” and submit

Q: Do we know if there is going to be an ACRE payment yet?

A: No, we will not know the final 2009 ACRE price according to NASS till the end of the marketing year for the applicable crop (August 31st for corn and soybeans).  Payments will be made no sooner than October 1st 2010.

Logan County FSA Committee Elections:

Nominations for candidates to run for the Farm Service Agency County Committee election representing producers in Local Administrative Area #1 is nearly up!  Enter your nominations by August 2, 2010.  Producers and landowners that are eligible to vote in LAA #1 and who participate or cooperate in FSA programs and are of legal voting may be nominated to participate in the upcoming County FSA Committee Elections this fall.  Also, organizations representing socially disadvantaged minorities or under-represented groups may also nominate candidates.  Townships in LAA #1 are Prairie Creek, Orvil, Sheridan, West Lincoln, Corwin, and Broadwell.

Any eligible person residing in one of these townships who is interested in running for the County Committee, or would like to nominate an individual to run for the County Committee, needs to complete a nomination form.  The nomination form for County FSA Committee Election (FSA-669A) is available at the Logan County FSA office.

***This is an important time for LAA communities, because county committee members make decisions that have significant effects on you and the area’s agricultural sector as a whole.  Stop in the office for details on the types of decisions county committee members make or visit the County Committee Elections website to learn more about the County Committee Election process.  LINK
