[June 03, 2010]  NEWBURGH, N.Y. (AP) -- New York police say it took four officers and four jolts from a Taser to subdue a man found running naked through city traffic, high on the hallucinogen PCP.

They began getting reports about a man running around in nothing but sneakers Tuesday night in Newburgh, about 60 miles north of New York City.

Officers spotted vehicles swerving and then saw the man. Police say he refused to obey instructions, ran at them and shouted, "Give it to me!" when an officer unholstered a Taser. They say he fell when hit with the first jolt, then jumped back up and began trying to yank out the Taser darts.

He was shocked again, struggled with officers trying to handcuff him and was shocked twice more.

The man was taken to a hospital for treatment. His name was not released.
