[June 07, 2010]  EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Police said a Rhode Island man has been arrested after breaking into an East Providence home and falling asleep on a hallway floor.

East Providence said 29-year-old Jeremy Menard was found sleeping in basement of the two-family home and arrested Friday morning. He identified himself as a U.S. Census worker.

Resident Carmine Balzano said his wife found him.

Menard was arraigned on breaking and entering charges Friday. He was released and was scheduled back in court in August.

It was unclear if Menard had hired an lawyer yet.

Balzano said Menard "would have never made it out of (his) house" if he had hurt his wife.
