The park district is hosting Putting on a Play, a camp June
21-25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Actors and actresses ages 9 and older
are included in the casting call. Learn how plays are staged,
rehearsed and performed. The camp will end with your very own play
production on Friday afternoon. Thespians will learn how to adapt
stories to be performed for audiences, create costumes, makeup and
sets. Learn acting techniques and have fun doing it. No theater
experience is necessary. All you need is a great attitude and a
willingness to learn. Bring your sack lunch, swimsuit and towel for
a fun break at the pool. Family and friends are invited on Friday to
see the production. This year marks the park district's 10th
annual Summer Golf Camp. Professional player
Doug Dean will be the instructor. He has more than 20 years of
experience in teaching the game. Monday through Thursday will focus
on all aspects of the game. Covered will be grip, stance and
posture. Players will be instructed on approach and tee shots, short
game, and chipping. Course management and basic rules of the game
will be discussed also. Friday will find the group at Four Willows
Golf Course in Mason City. Golfers will enjoy nine holes of golf and
lunch will be provided. Dean will be on the course, where he will
continue offering instruction and share his passion and knowledge of
the game with his students. Golfers age 9 through adults may choose
either an 8-10 a.m. session or 10:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Lessons begin
June 21 and will conclude on June 25 after the golf outing.

Lincoln's Fourth of July fireworks and
celebration will begin on Friday, July 2, with a three-piece
chicken and fixin's fundraiser dinner. This delicious meal will be
offered at the Lincoln American Legion from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Cost of
each dinner is $7, and the proceeds will be used to offset the cost
of the fireworks. Please support this dinner so the residents of
Lincoln and guests may enjoy many more years of fireworks tradition.
Saturday's events will include the walking parade and water balloon
fight with the fire department. Sunday, July 4, will feature Splashapalooza, with lots of pool games for the young people. Come
out early that evening and enjoy the DJ while eating a slice of
watermelon. At dusk the American Legion Post 263 color guard will
present the colors.
