[June 14, 2010]  WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama's chief political adviser says the president will be out on the campaign trail for Democratic candidates in the fall elections.

Adviser David Axelrod says he believes Obama is the party's greatest political asset. But Axelrod also says he doesn't know if everyone shares that view. He says Obama is being asked to do quite a few things in connection with this year's races.

Axelrod says the focus will be on first-time voters who proved critical to Obama's election in 2008.

He says that the primaries so far show that good candidates running good campaigns on local issues will win elections.

Axelrod spoke Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press."
