[June 15, 2010]  BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) -- Thirteen students from colleges around the country experienced a taste of Hollywood and the movie business as Student Academy Award winners.

HardwareThe weekend ceremony marked the 37th year the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has honored student films.

Gold, silver and bronze medals -- accompanied by $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000 grants -- were awarded in narrative, documentary and animation categories. There was no bronze recipient in the alternative category.

Directors Penelope Spheeris and Henry Selick and actor Jeremy Renner presented the prizes to the winning students, who spent several days as the academy's guests in Los Angeles, meeting with academy filmmakers and members of the writers', directors' and cinematographers' guilds.
