[June 18, 2010]  The Logan County Genealogical & Historical Society will meet Monday, June 21, at 6:30 p.m. at 114 N. Chicago St. in downtown Lincoln. Greg Laun will speak about the old stagecoach road between Springfield and Peoria. The organization welcomes visitors.

AgriGold in St. Francisville has employed Taylor Hilgendorf of Emden as a Region 3 sales intern for the summer 2010 growing season. Hilgendorf will work with corn specialists Shannon Holohan, Dan Naughton and Travis Huddleston in Logan and the surrounding counties. A 2007 graduate of Hartsburg-Emden High School, Hilgendorf is now a senior at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he is studying agriculture and consumer economics. Hilgendorf is involved in IlliDell Fraternity.

AgriGold interns are responsible for assisting the corn specialists in achieving profitable growth and development of a district within the overall strategy of AgriGold.

On Sunday, June 20, at 10 a.m., St. John United Church of Christ will continue its 150th year anniversary celebration with a historical pageant, "The Vine That Winds So True." The pageant was written originally in 1975 by Ruth Bidner for the 50th anniversary celebration of the church. Revised and updated by Ruth Bidner’s daughter, Verdeen Ingram, it depicts events from 1925 to the present in 10-year segments and will feature a cast of over 70. It is being directed by Verdeen Ingram and the Rev. Wallace Reifsteck. Narrators are Robert Meinershagen and Dan Row.

The pageant performance will be followed by a sandwich, salad and cookie lunch served in the Fellowship Hall. The public and the congregation are cordially invited to join in the meal and Christian fellowship. The church is located on the corner of Seventh and Maple streets.

This is the sixth part of the nine-month celebration of the congregation’s 150th anniversary.
