Lincoln College announces head softball coach

[June 23, 2010]  Lincoln College has announced that Crystal Wurth has been promoted to head softball coach after serving the last five years as assistant coach.

Wurth says, "I’m am extremely excited to be able to stay at Lincoln College and looking forward to the challenge of being a head coach."

Wurth will take over for John Andrews, who moves to the athletic facilities supervisor position that includes overseeing the newly opened Lincoln Center.

Wurth grew up in Lincoln and attended Lincoln Community High School and Lincoln College. While at LC she lettered in volleyball and softball.

She then transferred to Webster University in St. Louis, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education with a minor in history and political science. She also led the Webster softball team to two consecutive NCAA tournaments. Her overall individual pitching record while at WU was 52-11. She was the team MVP for 2001 and 2002.

Since college, she has been coaching locally and offers private pitching lessons as well.  This is her fifth year as pitching coach for the Lynx.

She lives in Beason with her husband, Lewis, and sons Aden and Brenden and daughter Madisen.
