Showtime network selects new programming chief

[June 29, 2010]  NEW YORK (AP) -- Hollywood producer David Nevins is the new programming chief at Showtime, replacing Robert Greenblatt.

Nevins has been president of Imagine Entertainment since 2002. The production company was behind such shows as "Friday Night Lights" and "24."

Showtime said Monday that Greenblatt is leaving the pay cable network when his contract ends in July, apparently amicably. He presided over a period of artistic and financial growth at Showtime.

Showtime is home to such series as "Dexter," "Weeds" and "Nurse Jackie." It had 12.4 million paid subscribers when Greenblatt arrived in 2003 and had 18.1 million in April.

Showtime is owned by CBS Corp.
