Way of Logan County is
accepting applications for financial assistance from eligible
not-for profit agencies in Logan County for the 2010-2011 year. To
request funding, agencies must request an application on or before
March 15. Write to United Way of Logan County at P.O. Box 684,

The Humane Society of Logan County annual rummage sale will
be on Saturday, March 13, at the Lincoln Woman's Club from 7 a.m.
until noon. As you start to clean out closets, garages and under
beds this spring, remember that all those unwanted items could be
someone else's treasure. SAVE THEM FOR HSLC. Drop-off will be
Friday, March 12, from 4 until 8 p.m.
Jarrett Poole was the lone member of the Lincoln Youth
Wrestling team to compete in the Illinois Kids Wrestling
Federation sectional wrestling tournament on Saturday. He wrestled
in the intermediate division (9- and 10-year-olds) at 122 pounds and
took third place out of an 11-man bracket. Jarrett had an
exceptional season, finishing his IKWF season with 30 wins and only
six losses. Jarrett will compete in the Illinois Midget State
Championship in Danville March 20 and 21.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1756, located at 915 Fifth St.
in Lincoln, is excited to announce its newest calendar addition.
Starting March 18, the VFW will host ballroom dance lessons for
beginners.
Since the organization's benefit in January, the VFW has been
working diligently on filling its calendar with events for the whole
community. This newest event is geared toward couples and limited to
the first 10 couples to register. Nancy Bauman will be the
instructor and will teach at a beginner level. Classes will run
Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 8:30 for 10 weeks. There is a fee for

The Lincoln Baseball Boosters
will serve their annual pancake, sausage, biscuits and gravy
breakfast on Sunday, March 21, from 8 a.m. to noon at the American
Legion Hall. Tickets are $6 for adults, $5 for children, and are
available from any player or at the door the day of the breakfast.
There will be a 50-50 drawing, as well as team apparel for sale.
Team will be introduced throughout the morning. Please join the
boosters at the American Legion on March 21 and support the Lincoln
High School baseball team as they kick off their season.
