Since the recession began two years ago, the nation has lost 8.4 million jobs and many economists believe that it could take at least four years to recover those jobs lost in the worst recession since the 1930s. They say it could take even longer for the jobless rate to drop back down to its more normal range of 5.5 percent to 6 percent.
