You
can still sign up for the Polar Plunge by collecting a
minimum of $75 in pledges and bringing your money to the Knight of
Columbus Hall at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 20. All plungers are
encouraged to sign up online at
www.plungeillinois.com.
All participants must sign a waiver.
Participants will be bused from the KC Hall to the Lincoln Lakes
private beach area. Heated changing tents and towels will be
available to the plungers to use as they exit the water. The
emergency scuba team will be on hand to monitor the waters.
Be sure to wear a costume, as prizes will be given for Best
Costume, Most Money Raised by an Individual, Most Money Raised by a
Team, Most Plungers Recruited and the Spirit Award. There will be
lots of door prizes, and Kevin Curry will be the DJ for the
post-plunge party.
Lincoln is looking great! There are about 170 online
registrations so far!! The goal is 200 plungers and $30,000 to be
raised for Special Olympics Area 10 athletes. Volunteers are still
needed, or if you are interested in making a donation, please
contact the Special Olympics Area 10 office at 428-9255 or Patti
Storer at the EMA office, 732-9491.
Fifteen Zion Lutheran School students in grades 4-8
participated in the Lincoln school’s annual spelling bee last
week during National Lutheran Schools Week. Josh Mangano is the
school champion and Kathryn Arneaud is the runner-up. Other
participants were Emma Cooper, Sydney Johnson, Emma Nobbe, Justin
Broom, Rachel Lockenour, Alan Baker, Nathan Ford, Mya Roberts, Emma
Ritterbush, Ashley Baker, Teran Madigan, Braydon Simpson and Kalyn
Roberts.

Zion Lutheran School in Lincoln had its annual geography
bee last week during National Lutheran Schools Week. Students in
grades 4-8 took a preliminary round quiz. The top 10 finishers
participated in the ZLS Geography Bee. The ZLS school champion is
Brad Miller, and Logan Thompson is the runner-up. The other
participants were Lexie Groves, Justin Broom, Aaron Butler, Rachel
Lockenour, Elizabeth Ford, Grace Walters, Joe Ahrends and Lance
Stanfield.
