Agriculture futures slip, livestock prices rise

[March 20, 2010]    CHICAGO (AP) -- Agriculture futures closed mostly lower Friday on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Wheat for May delivery slid 5.5 cents to $4.8375 a bushel; May corn lost 1.5 cents to $3.745 a bushel; May oats dropped 1 cent to $2.245 a bushel; while May soybeans gained 2.25 cents to $9.6175 a bushel.

Meanwhile, beef and pork futures advanced on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

April live cattle added 0.45 cent to 97.97 cents a pound; April feeder cattle rose 0.80 cent to $1.0867 a pound; April lean hogs climbed 0.48 cent to 73.35 cents a pound; and May pork bellies gained 0.22 cent to 93.47 cents a pound.
