Boil order in effect for Lincoln residents

Send a link to a friend

[March 22, 2010]  Lincoln residents received a wake-up call from Illinois American Water this morning advising them to boil their water until further notice.

The auto-generated messages started going out to residents shortly after 5 a.m.

The message stated that water pressure overnight had fallen below 20 pounds per square inch, which requires the company to notify customers that their water should not be used for consumption.

It is reported pressure fell after an overnight water main break.

The message said that water was suitable for washing and bathing but that any water used for consumption should be boiled for five minutes before being used.

The message stated that residents would be notified when the boil order has been lifted.

LCHS is closed today, but District 27 is open and bottled water will be provided for students.
