Low pressure in northwest Texas will deepen northeast along a
frontal boundary into the lower Ohio Valley by sunset Thursday and
into the Mid-Atlantic states by overnight Thursday. Rain will
likely develop Wednesday night across central Illinois and into
southeast Illinois overnight. The heaviest rain will fall during the
day Thursday, with isolated thunderstorms possible in southeast
Illinois south of Charleston and Mattoon.
The rain will diminish by overnight Thursday, with between
three-quarters and 1.25 inches of rain expected. The highest amounts
over an inch are expected south of Interstate 72.
Due to a saturated wet ground, this rain will be runoff and cause
rivers to rise again, with some rivers possibly rising back above
flood stage, especially in southeast Illinois.
