[March 26, 2010]  MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- LAN Airlines SA is moving up the delivery of its Boeing 787 by three years, which is good news for both the airline and the airplane maker.

LAN is Chile's largest airline. Most of its deliveries were set to begin in 2014. But it said on Thursday that it will now take 10 787-8 aircraft during the first half of next year. It also has orders to buy 16 more, and lease six others.

Airlines have been eager to get the new plane because it is more fuel-efficient than similar models. It flew for the first time in December, two years late. Boeing is hoping to deliver the first one by the end of this year.
