[April 01, 2010]  (AP)  A strong low pressure system over the Ohio Valley was expected to continue producing unsettling weather activity as it advanced into the Mid-Atlantic on Monday.

AHardwarebundant moisture would accompany this system and translate into light to moderate precipitation from the Mid-Atlantic through New England. Areas near the coast were forecast to experience heavier precipitation throughout the day with increased risks of local flooding.

To the south, an associated cold front and another area of low pressure were expected to produce fairly widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms across the eastern regions of the Carolinas through the afternoon. Isolated damaging winds and hail may accompany stronger thunderstorm activity.

Behind this system, high pressure would produce another day of fair, dry and mild weather conditions throughout the Four Corners and the Plains.

Farther west, a large trough of low pressure in the eastern Pacific was expected to swing a strong cold front into the Pacific Northwest and northern California. Strong winds would usher abundant moisture into these regions, triggering rain and mountain snow throughout the day. Precipitation spreading into northern California was expected to become fairly widespread by the evening hours.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday ranged from a low of 2 degrees at Yellowstone Lake, Wyo., to a high of 88 degrees at Anaheim, Calif.
