[May 01, 2010]  MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) -- An African Union spokesman says an explosion in Somalia's capital has killed at least 20 people.

Maj. Barigye Bahoku says the blast Saturday took place in Mogadishu's main Bakara market near a mosque.

Islamic insurgents control much of Mogadishu and have been trying to topple the fragile government for three years. Somalia has not had an effective government for nearly 20 years.
